Why Chain of Command_

It's not your age or your hire date that puts you in charge — it's your title/rank that determines your responsibility in the agency.
Maintaining Order
Due to the environment, and tasks that our personnel perform; discipline is required to ensure that personnel do not panic when they deal with emergencies. To build and maintain this discipline, new personnel need training and advisement from those who are more experienced. In order for this, personnel are assigned a title/rank according to their training and education. Higher-ranked personnel use their authority to enforce discipline and help ensure order.
Level of Responsibility
BICA also uses a title/rank structure to assign levels of responsibility. Personnel of lower-rank are equivalent to a "Detective I" while mid-rank personnel are equivalent to a Captain in charge of day-to-day operations. Higher-ranked personnel are equivalent to a Chief who directs the agency on a larger spectrum. This division of responsibility ensures that the most experienced personnel are taking on the most complicated roles and that all personnel contribute according to their qualifications.
Continuation of Command
Serving as a private investigator, criminal investigator, close protection agent, or a fugitive recovery agent is unlike most professions, while on duty mid-ranked and or higher-ranked personnel can become incapable, ill and or killed at any moment due to several factors. In this instance, without a concrete chain of command, less experienced personnel would be left without direction. To counteract this, BICA uses a title/rank structure to assure that someone is in command at all times. For example, if one of the Supervisory is incapable of serving, the next highest-ranking personnel will take command.
Performance Evaluation
Many security, law enforcement, ems/fire departments, and the military also use rank and promotions as a benchmark for evaluating performance. For instance, as personnel take on greater levels of responsibility, promotions to higher titles/ranks such as Public Information Officer I, Technical Specialist I, Private Investigator I-CPI, Criminal Investigator I-CCI, Close Protection Agent I-P3, Fugitive Recovery Agent I-CRA for lower-ranked personnel or Fugitive Recovery Agent V-DRA, Private Investigator V-DPI, Criminal Investigator V-DCI, or Close Protection Agent V-DPA or DDO for commanding personnel are harder to obtain.
Prestige of Title/Rank
While the main purpose of a title/rank is to give authority by lawful means, it also accomplishes the same task psychologically. Because higher ranks are difficult to achieve, earning a promotion comes with a certain amount of prestige.
NOTE: All of our personnel are equal in regards to tolerance, respect, treatment, and rights due to them. Title/Rank is not about who is in control and or who has more authority. Title/Rank is given based on personnel's education, training, experience, and character. A professional would never "pull rank" upon another. All of our duties are the same the only difference is our responsibilities.
